Obviously, this is a shout out to the 21st chapter of Revelation. The C block represents Christ, and the cat is the Church. Duh.
It’s killing me that I can’t take this course at MBTS this fall:
HT 3250 Theological Seminar: Theology of Movies & Visual Media
Class offered Tuesdays beginning Aug. 25 from 6:30 to 9:20 p.m.
For better or worse, we are living in a culture that is saturated and defined by images from movies, television, and the computer screen. What are the opportunities (and limitations) of using movies and other visual media for sharing the Gospel? This class will equip students to “think Christianly” about movies and visual communication. Also, the course will include an overview of Old and New Testament teaching on “the image” as well as the historic relationship between Christianity and the Arts. In addition, students will view and critique movies.
It’s only $200 for three credit hours (!), but I did the math:
It would mean $200 plus books, plus 7,600 miles on my car plus $800 in gas plus five hour on the road each Tuesday. Gah. Why does Kansas City have to be so far!
